In celebration of our new and improved website, we sparked word of mouth buzz by directing people to our Home page and asked them to become a Facebook Fan. Then on January 20, we randomly drew Erika’s name from more than 300 fans.

It’s been 13 years since I started this company from a spare bedroom next to my third child’s nursery. And I can still count on one hand the number of times we revamped our website. The world has changed again with the advent of social media, and this time we are EXCITED to embrace this change and reflect it in our website.

High Tech Connect has ALWAYS been about connecting people. Back in 1997 “extra” marketing resources were limited to however many business cards you had in a Rolodex. You either knew the right person or you asked someone you trusted for the right contact. Sometimes you got a semiconductor writer when you really needed a networking writer, or you brought in a PR contractor whom nobody could stand, but with launches approaching, you made it work. But you really wanted to work with cool people, fun people, those who “got” what it took to be successful in a demanding, chaotic industry and not lose their minds.

High Tech Connect was founded because I wanted to help my cool friends meet and make incredible things happen together. And now, 13 years later with more than 400 client companies and 1300 expert consultants, we’re using social media to bring even more cool people together.

If you are just starting to dip your toes in the social media waters, don’t be afraid. It’s easy and it’s fun. There are a lot of really cool people who can help you, make you laugh, or refer you to new business. I hope you will read our blog often because we’ll be posting regularly (for a change!) and it’s always going to be authentically High Tech Connect.
