How It Works
We built this business, a network of the best professionals in the PR and marcom industry, by word-of-mouth referrals—referrals to the best consultants and the best clients. We don’t carry your resume door-to-door in search of consulting projects. And we never scrape up resumes of unemployed workers off the Internet.
It’s all about relationships—knowing the right people, the truly great people, and connecting them with each other. People work with people they like and you will discover we aren’t just an agent or broker. We truly care about our consultants and do our best to augment your business while also caring about you as a friend and colleague.
And of course, there’s timing. You never know when you’ll be too busy or not busy enough. Our clients rarely call unless something is on fire (typically at 4:45 p.m. on Fridays).
If you have a minimum of five years of professional experience and have consistent, exceptional results in marketing communications, public relations, writing or a related field, we would like to know you. Most High Tech Connect consultants average 15 years of professional experience.
Getting to Know You
You must invest a few minutes to help us understand what you do and why you are extraordinary. We’ll ask you to complete our short questionnaire and provide a current resume in order to determine whether there is a good possibility that we might need your expertise in the future.
Cursory answers to the questionnaire like, “All my projects are successful,” or “See resume,” will immediately be rejected. If you don’t care enough to market yourself to us, why would we introduce you to our best client?
Client-Driven Matching
We start by listening to a client’s very specific needs and only pull the best-suited consultants from our network. Clients never say, “Oh, just send over a writer, will you?” They always ask for a specific skill set, technology, geographic location, level of experience, rate range, on-site time and other criteria, which narrows down the pool of candidates to a small handful pretty fast.
Primed for Success
We fully brief you for any interviews with detailed information on the client, company, department, work environment, personalities, business challenges and anything else we can glean. We’ll give you guidance on meeting the expected deliverables and deadlines, and we negotiate on/off-site time as well as rate information in advance of your interview.
By the Way…
We do NOT post incoming consulting projects to our network or on the website. Each project has very specific criteria, from skill set and technology expertise, to budget and geographic region. It’s our job to determine who is the best fit for each project and we will contact you at that time.
And we make no promises of placing you within the next 30 days or even the next calendar year. But if you are a versatile consultant and would like to augment your existing business with additional projects—perfectly matched to your experience and prescreened by us—then when the planets align we’ll be calling. We never know what skills the very next client may need!
